Leaving Acorn

Every plan is built so you can leave if you choose, and every member can leave with you, taking their data with them: their posts, likes, follows, and relationships.

• On Organization & Custom: you hold the domain (point it elsewhere and it goes with you), your data sits on a server dedicated to your community in the standard AT Protocol format, and your community's identity is a real account on the open network.
• On Free, Community & Collective: the same open-network principle applies, but there's no domain of your own to redirect, since your community sits on Blacksky's shared PDS. Members' individual accounts, posts, follows, and relationships are still portable in the standard format.

Either way: your data is exported in the standard AT Protocol format and can be loaded into another host. Acorn holds the cryptographic keys that authorize changes to your community's identity, but you hold a pair too — downloadable, and also sent to your email during signup.
